Berkshire

The Royal County of Berkshire is one of the Home Counties. The County Town is Reading, with a commercial centre that has strong links to Information Technology. It's most famous residence is Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, the historical cornerstone of English culture and the official residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

William the Conqueror picked the site, west of London overlooking the Thames and it has been a Royal residence and fortress ever since - almost 950 years.
